Tomato Rice is South Indian dish, taste is awesome and easy to make.. Can be served with curd and papad.
Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Tomato Rice:
- 1 cup Rice (I used basmati Rice)
- 2 medium size onions (chopped)
- 5-6 medium size tomatoes (chopped) if possible use soft tomatoes
- 1-2 green chilli
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- Handful mint leaf chopped
- 1-2 spoon coriander leaves chopped
- 1 tsp kasuri methi (if you have fresh methi then use that)
- 1/2 cup curd
- as per taste Salt
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder(increase or decrease as per your taste)
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 2-3 tsp oil
- Pulav masala
- 1 Pulav leaf/bay leaf
- 2 Star flower
- 1 black cardamom
- 2-3 laung (cloves)
- 1 inch cinnamon stick (Dalchini)
- 4-5 black pepper
- 1/2 tsp jeera (optional)
Steps to make to make Tomato Rice
- Soak basmati Rice for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile we will make pulaav gravy. - Chopped onions, tomatoes and all kind of leaves. (Mint, coriander)
- Keep ready all species from pulaav masala section.
- In cooker heat oil then add jeera and all pulaav masala. Roast till aroma comes out.
- Now add green chili and onions. Cook for 1-2 minutes then add ginger garlic paste. Cook till onions changes colour or turn out soft.
- At this stage add all verity of leaves and give good mix.
- Add tomatoes & salt and cook till they turnout soft. That the reason you should use soft tomatoes.
- Once tomatoes become soft add red chili powder & coriander powder. Mix and wait till it release oil.
- Now add curd n mix it (don't over cook)
- Add Rice and required salt and mix gently else Rice will be broken.
- Pour water (I used double water of Rice quantity) so it depends on Rice which you are using. Now let it boil then just check if any other masala is required add it else close the cooker and wait for two whistle.
- Tomato Rice OR Tomato Bhaat is ready!!!!
