  5. 2 green cardamom

  11. 1 kg green peas

  16. leaves Few curry
  17. 6-7 green chillies
  18. 1 tbsp fennel seeds
  19. 1/4 cup barista (fried onion)
  20. 1/2 cup oil
  21. 1.5 tsp red Chilli powder
  22. 2 tsp homemade biryani masala
  23. to taste Salt
  24. as required Some chopped coriander leaves
  25. 2 bay leaf,
  26. 1 black cardamom,
  27. 2 green cardamom,
  28. 1 piece mace
  29. 1 inch cinnamon,
  30. 3-4 cloves,
  31. 7-8 peppercorns,
  32. 1 tsp shahi Jeera
  33. 1/2 tsp orange food colour mix with 2 tbsp water
  34. as per required Few drops of kewra water

Steps to make to make Spicy Green Peas Biryani

  1. Rinse and soaked the rice into water for 30 minutes. In a big wok add 7-8 cups of water add all above spices mention for rice and 4 tsp salt. when water started boiling add soaked rice. Stirring occasionally and cook for 7-8 minutes till 75% has cooked. Drain the water with help of strainer and rinse the rice gently with running water so that the grains stop cooking. Gently fluff and keep aside.
  2. In a pressure cooker add oil and heat well.add sliced onion and saute till they golden brown add whole spices,ginger - garlic paste. Saute few seconds.
  3. Add tomatoes and broken green chillies.red Chilli powder and salt to taste. Mix and cook for 2 minutes then add curd,curry leaves and fennel seeds.mix it.cover and cook on medium flame for 3-4 minutes to soft the tomatoes.
  4. Add green peas.and 1/2 cup water mix well cover and cook on high flame for 2 whistle. Allow to Release the pressure naturally. Open it. Add biryani masala mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Take a heavy bottom wok add half part of cooked peas then layering with half part of cooked rice upon the peas.add spread some batista and chopped coriander leaves upon it.
  6. Now make second layer by repeating the same process with remaining rice and cooked peas. Finally spread fried onion and coriander leaves on the top layer and sprinkle food colour on it.add kewra water. Cover and cook on simmer for 6-7 minutes. Turn off the flame.
  7. Leave it for 10 minutes without open it. Then open the lid. Mix gently dish out and serve the tasty spicy biryani with salad and raita.
